Trials and Assessments
What Is Involved in a New Student Assessment?
At In The Deep Swim School, we run a skill-based program where kids are placed into classes based on their ability.
Your child will hop in the water with an instructor so we can see their swimming skills. A supervisor will be there to help out too.
It won’t take longer than 10 minutes for us to find the most suitable class for your little one.
An assessment is a wonderful chance for you and your child to experience what swimming with In The Deep is all about. Our teachers love welcoming new students to our pool and setting the tone for their swimming journey.
It’s also a great opportunity to meet us, check out the facility, experience our beautiful water, and get your bearings — so you are all ready to go when lessons start!

Come Test the Water with a Free Squirts Trial Class
We shore get excited seeing new Squirts start their swimming lessons for the first time!
We also understand that that first swimming lesson is a HUGE event and might take some getting used to.
It’s a brand new environment for little ones.
There’s a lot to organise - toggs, towels, bags, prams...
Finding your way - where to park, club memberships, where the pool is...
What do we need to bring?
Buoy, do we know!
We also know that not every Squirt takes to the water like a fish to the sea or a dolphin to a wave 🐬. Some may need a little test of the waters 💦.
If you’d like to just ‘sea how it goes,’ we’d love to offer you a free trial class.
What Do I Need to Bring?
The Juniors dress code says kids must arrive and leave wearing shoes and clothing, not just swimwear.
We recommend kids wear a one-piece costume or swim trunks.
An approved swim nappy is required for all children under three or those toilet trained within the last six months.
Swimming caps are club policy - every swimmer must wear one.
Don’t worry if you need any of these -we sell swim caps, goggles, and approved swim nappies at the pool. We’ve got you covered.
